Hu Jingzhiwas born in Wuxi in 1933. A former professor at Peking University, he is currently a professor and a doctoral adviser in the School of Humanities at Shenzhen University, where he also serves as the deputy director for the university’s Academic Board and the directorfor the Humanities and Social Sciences Committee. At Peking University, he followed famous scholars, such as Yang Hui, Zhu Guangqian and Zong Baihua, to study literary theory and aesthetics. His many books includeLiterary Theory and Aesthetics,On the Aesthetics of Literature and Art, andSelected Works of Hu Jingzhi. He is the president of the Guangdong Society of Aesthetics.
